I have previously posted a tutorial on painting miniature horses on this site, but during the execution of my latest squadron of Perry Brothers cuirassiers over the Christmas vacation and into February, I stumbled upon a new approach that renders a better result, in my opinion. Rather than fighting the transparency of the medium, I embraced it. That is to say, after the initial application of the selected color, I used a soft, flat brush to remove all the excess paint, letting the gesso shine through.
